George (Georgios) Kouvas joined the Wyss Center as Program Manager in February 2017. He brings experience in medical device development, eHealth product development as well as engineering program management.
At the Wyss Center, he manages a technology enabled program aiming to develop minimally-invasive clinical solutions that will improve the lives of people with nervous system disorders such as epilepsy, tinnitus and dyslexia. In addition, he supports the Wyss Center in its initiative for project management maturity advancement.
George has long experience in industrial environments where he brought complex systems to market. Prior to joining the Wyss Center, he worked at Merck (Switzerland) where he contributed to the success of the Medical Devices & Services business, initially as an Associate Director leading the software function and later as Director, technical leader of Merck’s eHealth platform. During his time at Merck he managed the development of disease management solutions for various therapeutic areas.
He was among the inventors of MSdialog, a first-of-its-kind medical device platform for multiple sclerosis patients that won 2015 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) Readers’ Choice Award. Prior to that he was with EXUS Innovation (Greece) where he coordinated European consortiums of technology, business and academia partners in innovation projects in areas such as Medical Devices, Dynamic Workflows, Location Based Services and others.
George has a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and an MBA from the Athens MBA program. He is certified in project management (PMI) and trained in methodologies for agile development (SCRUM) and achieving outstanding performance (INSEAD).
